Grand Knight's Report
In the last few months, the dynamic efforts of our council have left an indelible mark on our neighborhood, demonstrating the power of collective action and goodwill. One of the standout achievements was the organization of a highly successful blood drive, which not only exceeded expectations but also marked the largest turnout in the history of our council. The event showcased the community’s commitment to making a positive impact, as they came together to donate blood and save lives. The resounding success of the blood drive not only bolstered our community spirit but also highlighted the tangible difference that can be made when we unites for a common cause.
Adding to the list of accomplishments is the exciting fall festival. Knights and Parish Members worked together to create a festive atmosphere, with over 500 hot dogs cooked and served to our neighbors.
Our council has extended its outreach to those in need by organizing a successful winter clothing drive. Over the past few months, our parish rallied together to collect almost 80 coats and sweaters to provide warmth to those less fortunate during the colder months. The overwhelming response from our parishioners showcases the generosity that permeates our community, emphasizing the commitment to making a meaningful impact on the lives of others.
Undoubtedly, one of the most poignant endeavors of our council in recent months was the extensive home repair project undertaken to assist a veteran in need. This noble undertaking required over 800 man hours. The project not only transformed the veteran’s living conditions but also highlighted the council’s dedication to making a lasting difference in the lives of individuals within our community. Through these remarkable achievements, our council has not only proven its capacity for impactful change but has also set a commendable standard for community engagement and service.

BUILDING A “DOMESTIC CHURCH”
The phrase “domestic church” has been used to describe families since the beginning of Christianity. In his Letter to Families, Pope St. John Paul II explained, “The Fathers of the Church, in the Christian tradition, have spoken of the family as a ‘domestic church,’ a ‘little church.’”
The domestic church is believing that how you live your faith in your councils, families, parishes and community has a ripple effect that changes the world.
It is the council, the family and the parish that knows that everything they do must be based in surrendering prayer.
It describes the imperfect family and council who deliberately chooses to live contrary to what seems like a Godless world and says, “In our home, council and parish, we choose to live our faith.”
It is the family and council who prays together, goes to Mass weekly, frequents the Sacrament of Confession and (because they realize they are powerless without God), deliberately avoids that which pollutes their minds and hearts.
It is the imperfect, humble and joy-filled family and council that rarely preaches the faith because they are too busy living it.

Who was Blessed
Michael J. McGivney
Michael Joseph McGivney (August 12, 1852 – August 14, 1890) was an Irish-American Catholic priest based in New Haven, Connecticut. He founded the Knights of Columbus at a local parish to serve as a mutual aid and fraternal insurance organization, particularly for immigrants and their families. It developed through the 20th century as the world’s largest Catholic fraternal organization.
The cause for his canonization started in the Archdiocese of Hartford in 1996; in March 2008, Pope Benedict XVI declared McGivney “Venerable” in recognition of his “heroic virtue”.[1] On May 27, 2020, Pope Francis announced that McGivney had been approved for beatification, which officially happened on October 31, 2020.[2] The pope’s action means that McGivney can be declared “Blessed”, the step just prior to sainthood. An additional miracle attributed to McGivney’s intercession will be required for his canonization as a saint.[3][4]
